Pastor Carey Wolfe

Born August 12, 1975

I was saved at age 5 when my grandmother took me to church.  I wanted to belong to God’s family.  I knew Jesus loved me and I wanted him to know I loved him back.  At age 9 I found out some people had a special prayer language with which they prayed to God.  One night I asked God for my prayer language and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  I prayed every day in tongues believing it was my special way of communicating with Him.  I thought that you were supposed to be baptized with water first so I pestered my pastor until he gave in and argeed to water baptize me at age 12.  Our denomination believed that only adults could be baptized and this was not conforming with social convention.  I was so happy as I felt I was a “complete” daughter of God now. 

 

I left the Mennonite church as I grew in Christ because I felt things were missing.    I began attending Springs church at the age of 18 and stayed there for 21 years.  I volunteered in childrens ministry for one year.  I never felt worthy enough to volunteer in a church.  So it took a long time for me to commit.

 

I have always had a heart for people.  In 2012 I started giving out hot chocolate, gloves, hats, scarves, socks and other miscellaneous things to the homeless during winter in Winnipeg.  The love shown to them opened their hearts for prayer and many lives were changed.  This developed into Power Up Ministries.  My desire growing each year to reach people.  Then I started a 3 year course in biblical studies.  During the second year our class went on a mission’s trip to Bulgaria; to the Roma people.  Once again my heart poured out onto those people and the results were amazing, blind eyes were opened, people were healed, and lives changed forever.  A woman who was told by her doctor her heart would not hold out during her labor which was days away and he told her to bring  funeral plans. So we prayed and later she delivered a healthy baby boy with all signs of her heart defect was completely gone!   

 

I know in my heart this is what I was born to do; spread the gospel to people at home, and in the world.  My life belongs to my heavenly Father and I will serve Him only all of my days.
